According to Quacquarelli Symonds’ (QS) rankings for 2018, The National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), one of the leading institutes in Pakistan, has just secured a rank in the top 500 universities in the world. Currently NUST ranks 437th in the world.
NUST has improved its ranking from 74 to 61 in the “Top 50 Under 50” category as well.
This is not the first time that NUST has achieved a notable position. It has been considered as the best Pakistani university in Asia while it ranks 112 among all universities in the continent.
The National University of Sciences and Technology was established in 1991 primarily for the promotion of STEM subjects. The main campus in Islamabad, Pakistan while other subsidiary campuses are sited in various cities across the country. The university is home to an under-construction IASP certified National Science & Technology Park as well.
In addition, the Islamabad based university has also improved in individual departments:
- Electrical and Electronic Engineering — 270th place
- Computer Science and Information Systems — 273rd place
- Mechanical, Aeronautical and Manufacturing Engineering — 367th place
- Physics and Astronomy — 472nd place
