Pakistan will have surplus electricity by 2018

PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi recently held a meeting of Cabinet Committee on Energy. During the meeting progress of transmission line projects for Hydel Power Projects, Port Qasim, Coal-Fired Power Plants, Neelum-Jhelum project,  Golen Gol Hydel Power Project and Tarbela-IV were reviewed.

Managing Director NTDC intimated the meeting that transmission line to evacuate power from Port Qasim power plant will be completed by the end of October.

In the same way, couple of projects worth 5.1 billion rupees to provide electricity to all Chitral valleys have been prepared.

PM instructed to expedite approval of PC-1 so that all Chitral villages can be electrified at the earliest.

Ministry of Power informed the meeting that Iran is keen to providing another 100MW of electricity other than to the existing arrangement for 100MW.

For the additional 100 MW, transmission line and grid station has to be constructed to meet immediate requirements of Makran division particularly Gwadar Port and industrial area.

The CCE approved the proposal and informed the Ministry to make arrangements for purchase of other extra electricity from Iran on urgent basis.
