As per to a latest report, a meeting was scheduled to be held on the improvement of regional harmony between the SAARC member countries.
In the meeting the industry officials and the businessmen said that CPEC welcomed opportunities for the development of regional bonding and harmony resulted in the improved trade among the SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) member countries.
It was stated in the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) that if the local resources are efficiently explored and well-utilized, South Asia could become the economic centre.
SAARC CCI statement:
“The SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) has been striving to boost the trade and investment among members since its inception, but without much success as the intra-regional trade figures continue to remain disappointing,”.
The statement further added that; “South Asia can become super economic hub if all indigenous resources are fully exploited and through ironing out of political and geographical differences among the SAARC member countries especially result-oriented parleys between two nuclear-armed neighbours India and Pakistan will make the region a driving engine for the world economy.”
The meeting was attended by Vice Presidents of SAARC member countries that included Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Maldives, Afghanistan and Pakistan. It finalized the suggested initiatives to be taken in the year 2018.
