According to the latest news, three expert Chinese groups are coming to Pakistan in March for the groundwork needed to give a push to the CPEC Special Economic Zones and to evaluate the progress of CPEC energy projects also. The experts will decide the future course of action in gas and oil fields.
The Chinese industrial expert group will mainly focus the development
of industrial cooperation for SEZ’s. Initially, the SEZ’s would be
established in Sindh, Punjab, and KPK. The source says that besides the
evaluation of CPEC energy projects, the expert group will discuss the
addition of the more hydropower project under CPEC. Their core focus
would be the hydro projects in KP, GB, and AJK.
In this connection, the federal government has already speeded up the
work on SEZ’s. The source further tells that Chinese SME’s are taking
a special interest in SEZ’s that will help in achieving a speedy completion
of SEZs. Earlier Pakistan and China both have mutually agreed to
develop SEZ’s all across Pakistan.
Last year Pakistan and China both have an agreement to develop oil
and gas sub group under CPEC.
Adding on to this, Pakistan’s government plans to establish a mega oil
city at Gwadar under CPEC and the land of 80,000 acres has been
procured for this purpose.
