Report: Modern fish processing facilities should be developed as part of CPEC

The fisheries sector is likely to benefit greatly thanks to the CPEC.

According to a  report called “The state of economy: China Pakistan Economic Corridor Review and Analysis”, its export could cross $ 1 billion per year as opposed to existing annual export of around $ 400 million.

This report is issued by The Shahid Javed Burki Institute of Public Policy at NtSol.

Pakistan has an export market for fish and fish products. Almost 30 percent of the total fish catch is exported to 30 countries around the globe, the report states.

It suggested following Thailand’s example when it comes to developing a the up to the minute fishery processing industry.

There is need to develop modern fish processing facilities with the assistance of China as part of CPEC.
