China and Pakistan join hands to initiate Quetta to Kandahar railway service

According to the latest report, Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms, has announced that Pakistan and Afghanistan are working to initiate a railway service from Quetta to Kandahar in collaboration with China. The Minister Ahsan Iqbal stated:

“A plan to start fast train with a speed from 250km to 350km from Peshawar to Karachi via Lahore is in the near future.”

Ahsan Iqbal further informed that the project of ML-1 from Peshawar to Karachi has been exalted to $8 billion. Once this project gets completed, the speed of trains will surely increase from 80km-160 km/hr. He told that the government plans to link Gwadar port to the railway network and would initiate a train service from Quetta to Peshawar also.

This massive upgrade in the railway infrastructure will prove to be one of the biggest infrastructure development made under the collaboration between Pakistan and China.
