France’s envoy to Pakistan Dr Marc Barety recently stated that French firms are interested in exploring opportunities offered by the CPEC (China-Pakistan Economic Corridor).
“As a matter of fact we are not waiting for CPEC because French companies are already investing in Pakistan but still in future would like to explore it and find a space on getting equal opportunity.”
Barety noted that there is dire need to for the two countries to boost their trade.
He further said that France has a €700 million portfolio for development projects in Pakistan, with an increase €150 million on pro rata basis.
€150m has been allocated for Jagran Hydro Power Plant while almost €70m have been spent on the project already, he said.
He also mentioned that French companies are interested in waste management and water treatment projects. In addition, they are also interseted in areas such as green and sustainable management in big cities.
