At the 5th anniversary of BRI (Belt and Road), China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is enjoying support from around the world. The BRI is the biggest connectivity project of cooperative partnership that reflects the vision of the President Xi Jinping based on shared destiny.
The CPEC is pilot and major project of BRI. China and Pakistan signed agreement on 20 April 2015 to start work on the project with $46 billion that makes around 20% of Pakistan’s annual GDP, with $28 billion worth of fast-tracked “Early Harvest” projects that are expected to be completed by the end of this year.
BRI is gaining momentum and changing the landscape for China. By the end of April 2018, China had signed 101 deals with 86 countries and organizations in various areas under the BRI.
Things for both BRI and CPEC are going in the right direction so far. Let us wait and see how this inititive transforms the world in the time to come.
