The spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in the United Kingdom, Mr Zeng Rong, while addressing the media, clarified the misconceptions on the relationship between Pakistan and China, labeling it as an “all-weather strategic relationship.”
The spokesperson said that the Pakistan and China have strengthen their relationship with the launch of the CPEC which is beneficial for the both countries in various aspects, including the economy, bilateral relations, stability and also for the security related cooperation. He mentioned that CPEC is a landmark of bilateral economic cooperation and a pilot project for the Belt and Road Initiative. At present, there are 22 projects under the CPEC, in which 9 are completed and 13 are under construction, with a total investment of US $19bn (£14bn). These projects have led to an annual economic growth from 1 to 2% and have also created 70,000 jobs in Pakistan.
Zeng Rong further added that the governance and development in Xinjiang are in accordance with law. The Chinese government has adopted a host of policies and measures to promote stability, development and solidarity.
This is a great attempt of clarification of the misconceptions and propagandas on the Pak-China relations, specifically on CPEC projects. Mr Zeng Rong addressed a stable development in CPEC which has great significance on the perception of the western world regarding the Pak-China relations that the relations of both countries are not only in terms of CPEC.
