The CPEC Tower is to be built in Islamabad. Interestingly, it will be the tallest building in the city and will an emblem of socioeconomic progress Pakistan is making in all fields. Mr. Ahsan Iqbal (Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms (PD&R), stated that the tower will lure investors and will serve as an icon of branding Pak-China Friendship.
The plan of making the CPEC Tower was made during a meeting chaired by Minister Ahsan Iqbal at Planning Commission in Islamabad recently. Senior officials from the PD&R, other line ministries and departments attended the meeting. In addition, a high level committee which will be lead by Malik Ahmed Khan, Member Infrastructure, PD & R will work on the tower.
“CPEC tower should be equipped with state of the art hotel, office spaces, commercial spaces and modern facilities.” (Ahsan Iqbal)
Ahsan Iqbal laid down the tasks for the committee and directions were provided in order to carry out a feasibility study after identifying an appropriate location. “Committee should sit with relevant departments to resolve issues of building codes and regulations” Mr. Ahsan Iqbal stated. The initiative will provide facilitation to Chinese and other investors, he continued. The tallest building would help in image building of Islamabad as a sustainable and vibrant city thriving upon entrepreneurship, science and technology, research and development, finance and culture, Mr. Iqbal concluded.
