OBOR is a powerful tool for overcoming terrorism: PM Nawaz

According to reports, PM Nawaz Sharif hailed China’s OBOR initiative as a powerful tool for combating terrorism and extremism in the region.

PM Nawaz Sharif termed the initiative a ‘geo-economic revolution’ addressing a summit addressing the One Belt One Road project in Beijing. It will usher in unprecedented growth and increase reformation of global economic governance, he added.

Mr. Sharif termed China a “close friend and trusted ally” of Pakistan while giving  tribute to China’s revival of the Silk Road.

“We admire China’s vision of developing corridors across the region. OBOR would promote inclusion and tolerance and help in overcoming terrorism and extremism. Its most important impact would be on the poor and marginalized population through its objective of sustainable development.”

 

“CPEC has the vision of a peaceful, connected and caring neighbourhood. It hopes to achieve unprecedented economic, social and cultural benefits and is creating new jobs, businesses, investments and entrepreneurship opportunities.”

 

CPEC is basically closing the gap between economic growth and social development. The flagship project is tapping the complete potential of Pakistan’s young generation PM expressed.

The Chinese-bankrolled OBOR project aims to connect China with Africa, Asia and Europe via a huge network of ports, railways, roads and industrial parks. It includes 65 countries representing 60 percent of the global population.
