Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for Interior and Planning Development & Reform, recently stated that the CPEC has played a vital role in the country, providing a sturdy economic platform. It is making sure inclusive development and integration with regional economies, he noted.
Iqbal noted while chairing the CPEC 50th Progress Review Meeting at Ministry of Planning, in Islamabad that the CPEC has transformed Pakistan and made if an safe and attractive destination for foreign direct investment.

Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong in addition to officials from Chinese Companies, federal ministries and provincial governments took part in the meeting. China’s FDI was 13 percent of the total foreign investment back in 2013, which was far behind other countries, he note.
“But now after the CPEC, China has emerged as the top country in respect of FDI in Pakistan.”
He instructed to fast track projects that were approved in the previous Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) of the mega project that took place in 2016.
“7th JCC meeting, expected at the end of this year would take the journey of CPEC to new heights and development milestones will be achieved”.
