
According to the latest news, a meeting was held in Shanghai between Maryam Aurangzeb the Minister for State for Information, Broadcasting, National Heritage and Literary Heritage and The Vice President Chunoing Xu of Shanghai Film Group. It has been reported that Maryam Aurangzaib warmly welcomed China’s assistance and support for showing Pakistani dramas and films in China.
During the meeting, Maryam Aurangzaib said that Pakistan is unleashing new horizons by developing joint ventures and co-production with China for the revival of Pakistan’s film industry. She further spoke in this context that the new film policy would soon be announced next month. She stated:
“We have benefitted from Chinese model while formulating the film policy.”
While speaking about the benefits for the film industry she said that several motivating benefits have already been announced. Formation of Film Academy and Artists Welfare Fund is one of a kind to revive the film industry of Pakistan. She appreciated the professional excellence of Pakistan’s film industry during 60’s and 70’s and our country was worldly known as 3rd largest film producer worldwide. The industry has been facing external as well as internal challenges for the last 15 years.
While commending Pak-China relations, she said that our friendship is entrenched in culture and history and is based on mutual trust. We would share professional expertise and assistance by presenting films dubbed in our national languages. There might be an exchange of students between the two countries. Pakistan will participate in Shanghai & Beijing Film festivals coming next year.
