3 out of 9 industrial parks under CPEC to be built in 2018: Ambassador Khalid

Pakistan Ambassador to China, Masood Khalid, recently stated that Pakistan and China have agreed to set up 9 industrial parks in Pakistan under CPEC (China-Pakistan Economic Corridor). He hoped that 2 or 3 special economic zones could be built in 2018.

 

“Outcome of the CPEC is the establishment of many industrial parks and special economic zones. Both the countries have agreed to establish nine industrial parks in Pakistan.”

 

The experience of China in establishing special economic zones has been very successful, he added.

 

The CPEC has brought work to over 60,000 Pakistanis, he noted. it is due to project, which has already been launched, he said. The development of more projects under the CPEC and BRI will lead to more job opportunities, he stated. In addition, the Ambassador added that per capita income will increase as well. Besides, the government will have more funds for the construction of schools, roads as well as hospitals.

 

“We hope that at least two or three special economic zones can be built this year, which means that we will build manufacturing centers, joint ventures, which will give people employment opportunities.”
