Gilgit-Baltistan will get the maximum benefit form CEPC: Chinese Ambassador


According to a news source, the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Yao jing has said that Gilgit-Baltistan is the key part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the people of this region will get the maximum benefit from it.

While meeting with the delegation of Gilgit-Baltistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GBCCI) here in Islamabad, Yao Jing said:

“The Chinese government wishes for the development of the residents through trade activities between GB and neighbouring Xinjiang province.”

The Chinese Ambassador further highlighted the development initiatives like Karakoram Highway (KKH), Gilgit-Chitral Road and the maintenance programs which have been launched in the Gilgit-Baltistan region.

The ambassador told that the government has given an approval to the ‘green channel’ that will permit the import and export of fresh and dried fruit items like cherry and apricot. Unfortunately, the ‘green channel’ system is still inactive due to the lack of implementation from the customs officials.

The Chinese Ambassador greatly emphasized the fact that Gilgit-Baltistan is the most beautiful region in the world and could give a jump start to the economy of Pakistan if the tourism culture and trade activities are initiated with China.

In the meeting, the Mr Raki President GBCCI said that business community of Gilgit-Baltistan also wants to conduct the trade activities through Karakoram Highway (KKH) in order to flourish their local business industry which will further increase the economic prospects for the people of GB.
