According to a new report, PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi witnessed signing of the contract between the Power Division of Pakistan and the State Grid Corporation of China on Monday for the construction of 878 kilometre 600 KV HVDC Bipole Transmission Line from Matiari to Lahore.
With the launching of CPEC energy portfolio, planning for evacuation of power of almost 4,000 megawatts of electricity from the upcoming power plants, which includes Thar, Port Qasim, nuclear at Hub became a challenge for the National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC). To manage the issue, HVDC transmission line was planned under the mega CPEC project for which agreement was signed back in 2015 between NTDC and the State Grid Corporation of China.
