The federal cabinet in the recent meeting was briefed about planning of FWO to build a crude oil pipeline with estimated cost of $10 billion between Gwadar to Kashgar. This project will be completed in cooperation of private foreign investors and will have transmission capacity of one million barrels per day which can be enhanced with time.
While proposal was already sent to Planning, Development and Reform, Defence and Finance divisions for their views, the Petroleum division was requested to sign a memorandum with FWO as surety for foreign investors. China fulfil 50% of its oil demand from Middle East and it passes through a 10000 kilometre route which will reduced to 3600 kilometres with this pipeline. FWO is sure that the hurdles like high altitude and freezing temperature etc. can be overcome with advance technology.
