While development work on the CPEC (China-Pakistan Economic Corridor) is continuing at a fast pace, non-payment of certain dues is something that calls for attention. Particularly, in the road projects, this is a serious concern.
The National Highway Authority (NHA) is going through a financial crisis due to which some cheques having value of more than Rs. 5 billion bounced back.
Hakla-Dera Ismail Khan, Western Route of CPEC and all sections of Karachi-Lahore Motorway (KLM) are some of the projects which have suffered by the situation.
The companies whose cheques have bounced are China Railway 17 Group, Matracon, SKB, ZKB, ACGC Chinese, Noman Construction as well as Sardar Ashraf D Baloch.
Considering this, the government got to come up with develop policies in order to ensure timely payments and implementation of projects under CPEC.
